Leaders behind party’s defeat to face action, warns Deuba



BHAKTAPUR: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has warned of action against those who betrayed party candidates in the elections.

The defeat in the elections was because of the betrayal of one leader to another within the party, he reminded, reiterating the need for unity in the party to emerge victorious in the upcoming by-election.

President Deuba was saying this during the two-day orientation organized by Central Policy, Research and Training Academy of the party here Friday.

“Democracy does not thrive in the country where citizens are not allowed to express their views,” he said, adding that NC was protesting the bad activities of the government and raising voice from street to parliament. The President accused the present government of imposing totalitarianism.

On the occasion, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, however, blamed the party leadership that it failed to protest the wrong activities of the government.
