Police post building constructed at Rs 35 million investment

MYAGDI: The Singa Tatopani Police Post in Beni Municipality-4, Rakse, has a newly constructed building costing over Rs 35 million.

The two-storey structure, built with earthquake-resistant features, was funded with support from the Gandaki Provincial Government.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjivi Pratap Mahato, the engineer from the Gandaki Provincial Police Office, confirmed that the building was completed on schedule and will be inaugurated and put into operation soon.

The facility includes an administrative wing, separate detention cells for men and women, a communication room, kitchen, barracks, and bedrooms. Until now, the Singa Tatopani Police Post had been operating from a rented space.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the District Police Office, said that having its own building will make it easier to serve the public and manage operations efficiently.

The land for the construction—two ropanis in Rakse—was purchased about 15 years ago by the Singa Tatopani Kund Management Committee, funded through entrance fees collected from visitors to the Kund, and provided to the police.

Previously, several police posts in Myagdi, including Kalipul, Bhurung-Tatopani, Mauwaphant, and Takam, had their own buildings. However, other posts under the district, such as Darwang, Ghodepani, Babiyachaur, Galeshwor, Ratnechaur, Mangalaghat, Chimkhola, Tiplyang, Dana, Ghar, and Pakhapani-Rakhu Bhagwati, still lack dedicated buildings.

Thapa noted that land acquisition remains the main challenge in constructing police post buildings across the district.
