Ministry directed to complete infrastructures before Visit Year 2020

KATHMANDU: The Development and Technology Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport to complete the construction of tourism infrastructures before the beginning of the Visit Year 2020.

With only four months left for the launch of the Visit Year, the parliamentary committee demanded the Ministry that it intensified the constructions of roads and other infrastructures to be prepared for the Visit Year.

After the committee meeting, the committee Chairperson Kalyani Kumari Khadka said the Ministry was asked to identify the value of the tourism area, assess the condition of infrastructures and accomplish the construction on time. Coordination among the concerned ministries was equally important, she stressed.

Similarly, lawmaker Ram Bahadur Bista said the availability of public toilet was essential in the Kathmandu Valley. He expressed worry that it was difficult for the tourists to find public toilets along the Ring Road.

Lawmaker Kamala Rokka complained that Visit Year would be discouraging in East Rukum because there were no motorable roads to reach tourism sites there.

Minakshi Jha also expressed worry over the sorry state of roads linking to the tourist areas in Tarai.

Indu Sharma wondered how the tourists could enjoy in the capital city while it takes two hours to arrive in Singha Durbar from Bouddha.
