US Ambassador clarifies US never asked Nepal to join Indo-Pacific Strategy



KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal, Randy W Berry has reiterated his stance on Indo-Pacific Strategy saying that the US has never asked Nepal to join it.

Ambassador Berry said this during a meeting with Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader Jhalanath Khanal at the latter’s residence in Dallu on Friday.

NCP leader Khanal said the US Ambassador clarified that the United States has never asked any country, including Nepal to join the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Khanal said the US Ambassador Berry made it clear that the Americans strive to do to protect in advance a free open and secure Indo-Pacific region.

On the occasion, issues concerning bilateral relations were discussed between Khanal and Berry.
