KAPILVASTU:  An unidentified gang opened fire on a leader of ruling Samajbadi Party Nepal in Kapilvastu district on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Ramnayan Yadav, chairman of Suddhodhan Rural Municipality of Samajbadi Party.

A motorcycle-borne gang shot at Yadav while he was heading to Lawanibad Pakadi of Kapilvastu, said District Police Office, Kapilvastu.

Yadav has sustained injuries to his arm. He is undergoing treatment at District Hospital, Taulihawa. His condition is said to be  normal. Police said they have launched a manhunt to nab the culprit.
