MAHOTTARI: The death toll due to unknown reasons in Mahottari has risen to 11 on Saturday.

Motilal Prajapati, 55, Palat Shah, 48, died today.

According to local administration, four people from Badribas-12, six people from Bhangha-7, and a person from Bhanghaha-6 have died so far.

Sikendra Singh, 42, and Sitai Mahara, 55, of ward no. 7 of the municipality died on Thursday, according to Mayor Sanjib Kumar Shah.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Mohan Chaudhary, 40, Nathuni Chamar, 52, Lal Babu Singh,54, and Ganga Ram,52, of the same locality had died, taking the death toll to six.

Two more people who fell seriously ill have been rushed to the District Hospital for treatment, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Budhathoki.

The ward chair Basudev Singh Tharu and locals are suspecting that the locals of their village may have died of spurious liquor.

The real reason, however, will be revealed only after the examination of the two sick and post-mortem of the deceased, said DSP Budhathoki.

It may be noted that the police have confiscated a large quantity of bootleg liquor and its raw materials from the same village in the past three days.
