Oli-Dahal meet ends; Secretariat meeting uncertain

KATHMANDU: The meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has ended without a breakthrough.

PM Oli, who is also one of the chairmen of the party, and Dahal met at Baluwatar on Tuesday to thrash out intra-party differences that had emerged after the former brought two ordinances aimed at reining in the disgruntled faction of the party.

It was widely speculated that the leaders would be able to hammer out the differences and convene meetings of the party Secretariat and Standing Committee.

The outcome of the high-level’ meeting has yet to be revealed.

NCP leaders had on Monday said that the secretariat meeting will be convened on Tuesday. However, the meeting looks unlikely due to the lack of consensus among the top brass.
