Envoys directed to manage food and lodging for Nepalis if rendered jobless



KATHMANDU: The government has directed Nepali Ambassadors to manage food and lodging to Nepalis if they are rendered jobless by COVID-19.

During a video conference with Ambassadors to five different countries, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and State Minister for Labor Rameshwor Raya Yadav directed them to that end.

The Ministers held a video conference with Nepali Ambassador to Cyprus Dr. Anjan Shakya, Acting Ambassador to Japan Krisha Chandra Aryal, Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Udayaraj Pandey, Acting Ambassador to South Korea Ram Singh Thapa and Acting Ambassador to South Africa Ghanshyam Lamshal.

During the teleconference, envoys briefed the minister on the situation of Nepalis in the countries.

Ministers said that Nepalis there can’t be brought to Nepal immediately as Nepal is currently enforcing a weeklong lockdown.
