Minister Khatiwada asks media to disseminate reliable information

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Yubraj Khatiwada has asked media and news providing agencies to effectively disseminate reliable information.

Speaking at a program on Sunday, Minister Dr Khatiwada said that the news on decisions of a high-level coordination committee and government on prevention of COVID-19 need to be disseminated properly to ensure that it would help reduce the risk of coronavirus spread.

“Media should understand that news must not create panic among people, but help boost their confidence and make them well prepared for the risk,” he said.

He said that human resources at media houses should be mobilized with further effectiveness.

People’s deprivation of information in the current situation cannot be acceptable, he said adding that people spreading fear with the misuse of social networking sites are being arrested and taken action.
