Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality declared fully vaccinated

TANAHUN: Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun district has been declared a fully vaccinated local government after all eligible children completed the full vaccination schedule within 15 months of birth.

According to the municipality’s Health Branch, a total of 789 children across the rural municipality’s six wards received all required vaccines, enabling the municipality to achieve full vaccination status.

Health Branch Chief Agamraj Upadhyay said that a household survey was conducted among families with children under five years of age, during which vaccination cards were checked to verify that all recommended immunizations had been completed.

“During the survey, we found that the children of four Indian traders living in Aanbukhaireni Bazaar had not completed their vaccinations. They were brought to Aanbukhaireni Hospital and vaccinated,” Upadhyay said.

The Health Branch reported that the household survey was carried out during the months of Falgun and Chait with the support of 16 health workers and Female Community Health Volunteers from nine health institutions.

Rural Municipality Chairperson Shukra Chuman praised the contribution of health workers and Female Community Health Volunteers, stating that their role in achieving full vaccination coverage was invaluable.

Certificates recognizing full vaccination coverage were presented to ward chairpersons and health workers from all six wards.

Shankar Babu Adhikari, Vaccination Officer at the Provincial Public Health Office, emphasized the importance of immunization in preventing and eliminating childhood diseases. “Child mortality is declining because vaccines are safe and highly effective,” he said.

All 10 local governments in Tanahun district have now been declared fully vaccinated, and plans are underway to formally announce the achievement.

Adhikari also urged health workers to remain vigilant, noting that some children may still miss vaccinations due to geographical remoteness or lack of awareness among caregivers.
