Major three announcements made by PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday evening announced stringent measures to ward off a possible outbreak of coronavirus in Nepal in his address to the nation.

Below are the major three announcements made by PM Oli.

Announcement no 1: Closure of international flights

Prime Minister Oli announced the closure of all international flights from March 22 to March 31 and barred entry of all foreigners. Earlier, the government had banned the entry of foreigners from COVID-19 hit countries only.

Announcement no 2: Suspension of long-route public transportation

In his address, the prime minister said that long-route public transportation vehicles will be suspended from March 22 until further notice. The announcement comes after a vast majority of people have left Kathmandu Valley over the COVID-19 scare.

Announcement no 3: All services except essential closed

PM Oli announced to close all offices except those providing emergency services from March 22 to April 3. In an address to the nation, PM Oli encouraged people to provide services through electronic means to work from home.

As per Nepal Gazette, essential services include postal, telephone service, transporting passenger and goods through water, land and airways, printing and government press, communication service, internal security service, drinking water, services related to tourist shelter, petroleum products, hospital, banking, insurance, electricity and transport, storage, delivery of daily essentials and weather forecasting among others.
