RANGPUR: Indian immigration officials have refused entry to a Nepali student while trying to enter Bangladesh through the Burimari check post in Patgram of Lalmonirhat.

He was studying at the Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh.

Officials at India’s Changrabandha check post sent him back around 12:30 pm Wednesday, who crossed the Burimari with a valid passport.

He was having a high fever, said Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain, an immigration police officer at Burimari check post.

Later, he was sent to his institution after being given primary treatment at the temporary health center at Burimari check post following instructions from the higher authorities, Anwar said.

The Nepali student came to Bangladesh to study at Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital on March 1.

Lalmonirhat Civil Surgeon Dr Nirmalendu Roy said the Nepali student has been instructed to be careful.

“He was running a fever on Wednesday, but he showed no other symptom of the coronavirus in his body.

Now he will be kept in the intensive care of home quarantine at Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital,” said the civil surgeon.
