Coronavirus cases spike to 184 in Pakistan

KATHMANDU: With the coronavirus gaining its foothold on every continent except for Antarctica, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 184 in Pakistan.

However, no deaths have been reported due to the novel virus in the country so far.

According to Aljazeera, 134 among those undergoing quarantine at the country’s Taftan border complain of ineffective measures as they were not being adequately screened for the coronavirus or treated.

Meanwhile, they have complained of squalid living conditions at the facility as it houses hundreds of people.

“We are sleeping in tents, with up to five people in a tent due to a shortage of space here,” said Amir Ali, 26, a travel agent who was brought to Taftan camp two weeks ago.

A provincial government spokesman in Balochistan, however, denied the claims that conditions were inadequate at the camp.

Over 4,600 people had been held at the quarantine camp, of which, 1,822 were released to their home districts on Friday.
