Govt has no kits to test coronavirus, claims Dr Dixit

KATHMANDU:  Senior Dr Sundarmani Dixit has accused the government of not conducting a screening on any patients suspected with the coronavirus.

Speaking at a program on Tuesday in the capital, Dr Dixit said the government is misleading the people stating that no one has been infected with the COVID-19 in Nepal, without conducting test on the novel virus.

“We have been told the COVID-19 has not spread in Nepal. One was diagnosed with the novel virus, he has recovered. Nepal is free from the coronavirus,” said Dixit, asking, “How is it diagnosed without testing?”

Meanwhile, Dr Dixit claimed that Nepal has no kits to test the coronavirus.

He said there were three suspected cases at his hospital but Teku Hospital refused to admit them.

Also speaking at the program, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bishworaj Pokharel said Nepal Police has been taking action against those involved in black marketing taking advantage of coronavirus.
