KATHMANDU: America has made public its report on human rights situations in Nepal.

Unveiling the report, the United States Department of State said the Nepal government investigated the incidents of human rights violations but failed to hold the officials and security agencies involved in the violations accountable.

Meanwhile, the report has also accused security officials of using excessive forces in the name of controlling demonstrations.

The murder of Biplav outfit leader Kumar Paudel on June 20 last year in Sarlahi, Nirlama Panta’s murder after rape and police encounter involving the kidnapping of 11-year-old Nishan Khadka in Bhaktapur among others feature in the report.

Similarly, the report has also touched upon the discrimination done against individuals based on caste and ethnicity and the ground of employment among others.

Even though the constitution has outlawed the racial discrimination, it is still existing in the practice, the report stated.
