513 Nepali migrant workers die abroad in 7 months



KATHMANDU: As many as 513 Nepali migrant workers have died in foreign countries in the last seven months.

According to the records of the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), the highest number of Nepalis died in Malaysia with 140, between July 17, 2019 to February 12, 2020.

Similarly, 120 Nepali migrant workers died in Saudi Arabia, 86 in Qatar and 80 in the United Arab Emirates in the line of duty.

Likewise, 25 died in Kuwait, nine in South Korea, six in Bahrain and three in Poland, according to the statistics maintained by the DoFE.

The other deaths include two each in Afghanistan, Jordan and Maldives and one each in Portugal, Israel, Turkey and Cyprus, according to the Department.
