KATHMANDU: Nepal Workers and Pageants Party (NWPP) lawmaker Prem Suwal has urged the government to consult the World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations prior to setting up quarantine camps at Kharipati in Bhaktapur.

Speaking at the parliament meeting in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, lawmaker Suwal said quarantine camps should not be set up in a densely populated area and asked the government to take decision as to this only after consultation with the WHO.

He further said that Bhaktapur locals have been protesting the government’s plan to quarantine Nepali evacuees from coronavirus-hit China at Kharipati in Bhaktapur.

A parliament meeting has resumed after the main opposition Nepali Congress withdrew its protest allowing the parliament to run.

The parliament had been in a state of deadlock due to NC’s protest over the CIAA’s move to file cases against 175 individuals including NC leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar over Lalita Niwas land scam.
