Dr Bhattarai feels ‘uncomfortable’, yet welcomes CIAA move on Lalita Niwas land scam

KATHMANDU: The Lalita Niwas land scam episode has made Former Prime Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai feel “uncomfortable” as he takes on to Twitter saying, “Though it is a welcome move, it indicates how corruption has been deep-rooted in the Nepali society.”

Dr Bhattarai’s reactions have come after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) lodged corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against 174 individuals, including the Nepali Congress vice-president Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar in the Baluwatar land grab scam.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai, however, said the case is not aloof from errors. “It is incomplete as well,” he has said.

Dr Bhattarai’s involvement has been seen in the scam as his cabinet had registered the land at Baluwatar in the names of 17 individuals when he was the Prime Minister in 2013.
