PM Oli asserts his govt has written to India on Limpiyadhura

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli today asserted that his government was the first one to write to India saying that Limpiyadhura belongs to Nepal.

Inaugurating the central committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Wednesday in Kathmandu, PM Oli boasted, “We have formally written to India saying that Limpiyadhura belongs to Nepal.”

PM Oli said that the Government of Nepal wrote to the Indian side since Nepal has the evidence to establish that all three places — Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh, and Kalapani belong to Nepal.

He said that the government has already initiated a diplomatic effort to resolve the issue with India.

It should be noted that the issue came to the fore after India in November last year published a new political map that includes Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh, and Kalapani.

The Indian side, however, remains adamant to its stance saying that India has not and will never encroach upon Nepali territory. India has, however, said it was committed to resolving border issues with Nepal through dialogue.
