KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the current session of parliament has to endorse Millennium Challenge Corporations (MCC) compact.
Addressing the first meeting of House of Representatives after the election of a new Speaker, Oli said that the running session of the parliament has to pass MCC Compact. He promised to offer the details of it in the coming days.
“We have to ratify MCC of which I will offer the details later,” PM Oli added.
Confessing that the government has been somehow slow to respond to the development agenda, PM Oli promised to make the correction in that end.
“It’s a bit late, even in the election of the Speaker of HoR,” Oli said, “However, both the parliament and the government have to speed up in the coming days, otherwise we will be too late to respond.”
Congratulating the newly-elected Speaker of HoR, Agni Sapkota, PM also wished for his successful tenure.
Reiterating that there was no alternatives for the democratic and progressive political forces to work hand in hand, PM Oli appealed all the parties in the parliament to overcome petty interest.
“Rather than getting stuck to the ideological differences we should adapt to the pace of development the world has adopted,” he said, “The government is committed to lead the country that way.”
