KATHMANDU: Putting an end to disputes surfacing regarding parliamentary endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have decided to get it endorsed through the current Parliament session.

NCP Chairmen KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have forged a gentleman agreement that no further discussions will be held in the party Secretariat about MCC and it will be tabled directly in Parliament.

Chief advisor to PM Oli, Bishnu Rimal told Khabarhub that no discussion will be made on MCC in Secretariat, adding that the compact will be tabled in Parliament and endorsed.

He added that the agreement was reached during a meeting between the Chairmen on Thursday to table MCC directly in Parliament making the ‘necessary’ amendments.

Speaking at a function organized on Friday in Nawalparasi, Dahal had said that MCC will be endorsed through the Parliament after ‘necessary’ amendments.

However, NCP senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal said no decision on MCC has been made.

“The Standing Committee had entrusted the Secretariat to make a final call. The Secretariat is undecided,” he said.

The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), Samajwadi Party, Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RPJ-N) and Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party are for the MCC ratification.
