PM Oli lauds APF role in maintaining peace and security



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has lauded the contribution of the Armed Police Force to peace, security and good governance in the country.

Speaking at the 19th APF Day function here today, Prime Minister Oli said the APF has been working honestly and with dignity since its establishment for peace and security, protecting the life and property of the people, fighting terrorist activities and maintaining good governance.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also praised the APF personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, while paying heartfelt tributes to them.

Stating that the APF continues to make extraordinary contribution at times of natural disaster including floods, landslides, earthquake and fire, Prime Minister Oli said the role play by the APF following the 2015 earthquake was incomparable.

The Prime Minister on the occasion said that the government was committed to the campaign of building a prosperous and modern society, by putting an end to poverty, illiteracy and backwardness.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ said the role of APF has become more important in the federal structure, and hence it should work in coordination with the State and local governments as well as under the federal Ministry of Home Affairs.

He also shared that the MoHA was developing a policy to add necessary personnel in the armed police force of the country.
