Nepal to hire foreign workers to operate Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hire foreign workers to operate Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway.

A recent Cabinet meeting gave Nepal Railway Company a go-ahead to hire foreigners, government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said on Thursday.

The company can hire up to 26 foreigners if the required manpower to operate the railway is not fulfilled within Nepal.

A train under construction at the Integral Coach Factory (Sawari Dibba Karkhana) of Chennai, India is scheduled to arrive in Nepal by mid-February. The government has bought two trains worth Rs 425 million each.
