KATHMANDU: The Forensic Medicine Department at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj identified toxic carbon monoxide behind the death of eight Indians tourists.
Unveiling the postmortem report, the Department said,” the eight Indian tourists who were found unconscious at a Daman-based resort died due to toxic carbon monoxide. It is produced in the lack of oxygen when some objects are burnt in a closed room. When people inhale this toxic gas, it mixes up with hemoglobin and causes oxygen deficiency in the blood. Cells will start dying due to the lack of oxygen.”
Eight Indian tourists, who were found unconscious at Daman-based Everest Paranaroma Resort in Makwanpur district, had been hospitalized at Hams Hospital, Dhumbarahi, on Tuesday morning.
They had died in the course treatment and their bodies had been taken to TU Teaching Hospital for postmortem.
The deceased were Ranjit Kumar, 39, his wife Indu Ranjit, 34, their two-year-old son Vaishnab, Prabin Krishna Nayar, 39, his wife Saraiya Nayar, 34, Abhinab, 5, Archa, 6, daughter Badra, 4, from Kerala State of India.
According to the Department, a total of 22 people have died due to carbon monoxide this year.
