Simikot-Hilsa road section disrupted for 45 days



DOLPA: The Simikot-Hilsa road section under the Karnali corridor in Humla district has been disrupted for the last one and a half months due to snowfall.

The road section in the mountainous region has been covered in thick snow.

Locals have been hit hard due to the disruption of the road, said Lamakyap Lama, a local of Namkha rural municipality-5.

It takes around two days on foot to reach Simikot from Namkha.

There is a shortage of daily commodities to construction materials with the disruption of Taklakot-Hilsa-Simikot road section, informed Bishnu Bahadur Lama, chief of Namkha rural municipality.

Snowfall had started in Humla from November 28. Tractors, tippers, Bolero jeeps were in operation in this region. Over dozen vehicles used to ply the 95-km road section before it was disrupted by the snow.

All the means of transportation have stayed off the road due to snow. There is four to five-foot snow on the road in the upper part of the district, according to Lama.
