I am not responsible for all 17,000 people killed during insurgency: Dahal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said he would take the responsibility of 5,000 lives, not all 17,000 killed during the decade-long insurgency.

“How can people put all blame on me when I am not responsible for all the killings?” he said while addressing a program at Tundikhel in Kathmandu organized by the Tharu community on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti today.

“I am not ready to accept the allegations,” Dahal, who headed the decade-long insurgency, said adding that the state was responsible for killing 12,000 people.

He reiterated that he would take the responsibility for the killings of 5,000 but the then rulers and kings should be prepared to take responsibility for the rest of the lives.
