Bill boards being removed in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has expedited the task of removing advertising materials including billboards mainly in five areas frequently commuted by VIPs.

Billboards are being removed at areas including Baneshwor, areas around Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Koteshwor, Tripureshwor and Jamal-Lainchaur by mobilizing teams.

The KMC has already pulled down 198 hoarding boards. KMC Police Division Chief Dhanapati Sapkota said the KMC is currently focusing on removing advertisements from the main areas of the city.

So far, KMC has collected Rs 200,000 in fines from firms and organizations that have installed hoarding boards and advertisements.

The KMC on Monday removed 17 unauthorized boards installed above shops and house walls from areas around the TIA, 50 such materials from Bagdurbar to Jamal Honda Show Room, 25 boards from Jamal to Lainchaur and 11 from Teku Bridge to Kalimati.

Likewise, the KMC has removed eight large billboards at Maitighar, Teenkune, Teku and Bishnumati Bridge.
