ILAM: Five hotels of Ilam today provided accommodation to a tourist for Rs 1 per night.
The discount package included a square of the meal for Rs 1 to a tourist who first booked the hotels on Tuesday — the eve of New Year 2020.
This initiative was aimed at generating publicity on Visit Nepal Year 2020 throughout the world, according to Devi Poudel, chairperson of the Hotel Entrepreneur Association of Ilam.
Five foreign tourists, including Japanese tourist Yukid Mitamura, availed the offer.
While the Chiyabari Cottage provided this offer to Mitamura, other hotels offering the service include Summit Hotel, Green View Hotel, Hamro Pokhreli Hotel, and Green City Guest House.
The tourists were also presented with certificates, and declared as goodwill ambassadors for Ilam’s tourism industry.
