Cold grips valley as mercury dips to 3 degree Celsius

KATHMANDU: Normal life has been affected in the Kathmandu Valley with the mercury dipping to 3 degree Celsius on Wednesday morning.

This is the record-low temperature of the year, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). It was recorded at 3.5 degree Celsius one week ago (on December 18).

The tarai region is covered in thick fog in the morning and the same weather likely to continue during the day in most parts of the country today. People are hurdling around fire to protect themselves from the biting cold.

The elderly, children and labors have been the hardest hit.

The weather will be partly cloudy in the eastern and central hilly regions and mainly fair in the rest of the country today and mainly fair throughout the country tonight,  said MFD.
