Sindhupalchowk accident death toll reaches 16

SINDHUPALCHOWK: The number of people killed in the recent bus accident at Chha kilo along the Lamosanghu-Jiri road section at Sunkoshi rural municipality-7 in Sindhupalchowk has reached 16.

Seven-year-old Aashika Tamang of Balefi rural municipality-3, Sindhupalchowk who was seriously injured in the accident breathed her last in course of treatment at the Sinamangal-based Kathmandu Medical College (KMC).

With the death of Tamang, the toll hit 16, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle.

The girl’s mother is being treated at the HAMS Hospital while the father is undergoing treatment at the Norvic Hospital.

Eighteen people who were injured in the accident have been admitted to several hospitals in Kathmandu.

The reserved bus — Ba 4 Kha 4468 — en route to Bhaktapur from Kalinchowk, Dolakha carrying pilgrims fell around 100 meters down the road, killing 12 on the spot and leaving over 20 injured.
