RASUWA: Six bodies have been recovered from inside a tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project following the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
The Nepali Army said the bodies were recovered during a search operation for people who went missing from the project after the floods on August 26.
A joint rescue team comprising project representatives and security personnel found six bodies entangled in a mesh of steel reinforcement bars used to reinforce the slope inside Audit 3 of the tunnel.
The bodies were removed using a grinder, gas cutter and rotary rescue equipment. The Nepali Army said the search operation is continuing as additional bodies were seen buried under mud inside the tunnel.
The Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project has reported the highest number of people unaccounted for following the floods. As of Thursday, 492 people associated with the project remained unaccounted for, while contact had been re-established with 936 others.
A total of 1,433 people were working on the project. The hydropower project is being constructed with Korean investment.
