Govt seeks applications for National Cooperative Regulatory Authority posts



KATHMANDU: The government has invited applications for the posts of chairperson and expert member of the National Cooperative Regulatory Authority.

The application process has been opened in accordance with the Cooperative Act 2017 and the Criteria for Recommendation for Appointment of Chairperson and Expert Members of the Authority.

According to the Ministry of Land Management Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, applicants for the chairperson post must hold at least a master’s degree in economics, commerce, management, accountancy, law, or cooperative studies.

Candidates must also have either served in a gazetted special class position or equivalent within the Nepal government, or possess at least 15 years of experience in national or international banks, financial institutions, or cooperative institutions.

For the expert member position, applicants must also hold at least a master’s degree in the related fields and have a minimum of 10 years of experience in banking, financial institutions, or cooperatives.

Eligible Nepali citizens below the age of 60 can apply for the positions. Applicants are also required to submit a work plan outlining existing problems, challenges, and opportunities in the financial cooperative sector.

Applications can be submitted within 15 days at the authority’s office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee has recently published the names of major loan defaulters from 10 cooperatives declared problematic and urged them to contact the committee immediately to settle their dues, warning of legal recovery measures otherwise.
