Demolition of 7-storey structure encroaching Dhobi Khola begins

KATHMANDU: The government has begun the demolition of a seven-storey building constructed by encroaching on the Dhobi Khola area in Anamnagar, Kathmandu.

According to authorities, the structure was built by Indra Chamling of Katunje, Bhojpur, and was identified as illegally occupying river corridor land.

Following verification of the encroachment, the building has been targeted for removal as part of ongoing efforts to clear illegal constructions along riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley.

Officials said the demolition is being carried out under the broader campaign to reclaim public land and reduce risks associated with unmanaged urban settlements along river corridors.
