KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office Kathmandu has urged people to vacate houses and temporary structures built on encroached land, including riverbanks and public, government and private property.
Issuing a public notice on Wednesday, the office asked residents to clear such structures by the evening of April 30, warning that clearance operations will begin from 7:00 am the following day in high-risk areas.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal, the settlements are located in disaster-prone zones and pose serious safety risks.
The office has requested residents to relocate vulnerable groups, including the sick, elderly, pregnant women and children, to safer locations, and to seek assistance from police if needed during the relocation process.
Residents have also been asked to remove their belongings, including livestock, from the affected areas.
The administration said it will move ahead with identifying genuine landless families and work toward a long-term solution, while those falsely claiming landless status will be brought under legal action.
