Drone attack sparks fire near Dubai airport, flights temporarily halted



DUBAI: A fire broke out near fuel tanks close to Dubai International Airport following an alleged drone attack, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend flight operations.

According to international media reports, the fire erupted in areas surrounding fuel storage tanks located near the airport. Civil defense teams quickly responded and successfully brought the blaze under control.

Authorities said no injuries have been reported in the incident.

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced that flights at the airport were temporarily halted as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff.

Meanwhile, Dubai Police said that Airport Road and the Airport Tunnel have been temporarily closed. Drivers have been urged to use alternative routes until the security operation is completed.

Earlier, the Dubai Media Office confirmed that civil defense teams had managed to control the fire in the fuel tank area near the airport.

Due to the incident, some flights were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport, airport authorities said.
