Kathmandu’s New Bus Park gets busier as Dashain nears

KATHMANDU: The number of passengers heading home for Dashain has started to increase at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu, as the festival approaches.

With more people leaving Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain in their hometowns, the bus park has begun to see growing crowds of passengers waiting to board public vehicles.

People who came to Kathmandu for work and other purposes have started returning home for the festival. Transport entrepreneurs said passenger traffic has particularly increased on long-distance routes.

Advance ticket booking for Dashain travel is set to open from Friday to make travel easier for passengers. The number of people heading home is expected to increase further once advance bookings begin.

Public vehicles operating from the New Bus Park serve both long- and short-distance routes to various districts across the country.
