76-metre Bailey bridge construction begins in Syafrubesi, to reconnect Rasuwagadhi road network

RASUWA: Foundation work has begun for the installation of a Bailey bridge at Syafrubesi, a key point on the road network connecting Nepal’s northern border with China.

Work has started on both sides of the river, with equipment being deployed to construct a temporary road track and excavate the foundation for the bridge.

The Bailey bridge will be 76 metres long. An access road is currently being constructed, while two excavators are being used to dig the foundation for a 14-metre-high structure, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.

The infrastructure work at Syafrubesi has been expedited as installation of another Bailey bridge under construction at Betrawati has reached its final stage.

Once the Bailey bridge at Syafrubesi is completed, the main road network to Rasuwagadhi, which was disrupted by floods and landslides, will be restored.
