CPN-UML Dang district condemns flag burning, urges RSP to maintain political decorum

TULSIPUR: The CPN-UML Dang district committee has expressed serious concern over the burning of the party flag and objectionable slogans raised in Tulsipur market on Thursday.

District Chairperson Shivakumar Acharya stated that individuals associated with the Rastriya Swatantra Party raised offensive slogans against UML Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli while burning the party’s flag.

The UML said the act undermined democratic norms, political etiquette, and the rule of law. Acharya emphasized that the right to freedom of expression cannot be misused to justify anarchy or hate-driven behavior.

He further highlighted that political disagreements should be expressed through debate, discussion, and public opinion, and acts like flag burning reflect intolerance and disregard for democratic values.

The party reaffirmed its position as a people-based organization continuously advocating for nationalism, democracy, and social justice.

UML also urged the Rastriya Swatantra Party to act as a responsible political force and avoid provocative and inflammatory activities. The party has called on relevant authorities to monitor activities that could disrupt national integrity, sovereignty, peace, security, and social harmony, ensuring they remain within legal boundaries.

Warning that such incidents could escalate violence and law violations, UML stated that the responsibility lies with the concerned parties and the government. It appealed to its leaders, workers, supporters, and well-wishers to remain calm and resolute while standing for democratic values and the rule of law.
