Govt directs enhanced security for upcoming House of Representatives election



KATHMANDU: The government has instructed district security committees to strengthen and ensure reliable security arrangements for political parties and candidates during the upcoming House of Representatives election.

A meeting of the Central Security Committee, chaired by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, decided to activate all mechanisms formed to coordinate election-related activities.

The committee also resolved to monitor the misuse of social media during election campaigns and take strict action against any illegal activities, the Home Ministry Secretariat said.

During the meeting, preparations by the four security agencies regarding election security were reviewed. The integrated Election Security Plan 2026, approved by the Central Security Committee, is currently being implemented to ensure a safe and orderly election process.
