KATHMANDU: The government has accelerated the classification of individuals injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 8 and 9, with the aim of providing livelihood and financial support based on the severity of their injuries.
The Home Ministry said the process has been fast-tracked following the procedure approved by the Council of Ministers on December 8. Under the procedure, the District Administration Offices will make recommendations, which will then be certified by the Ministry of Health and Population.
A technical committee, led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, has classified the injured into four categories: minor, moderate, serious, and very serious. Individuals with serious injuries will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 9,000, while those with very serious injuries are entitled to Rs 18,000 per month. Those with moderate injuries will receive Rs 4,000 monthly.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has instructed authorities to expedite the classification process to ensure timely assistance and alignment with public sentiment. The classification facilitation committee confirmed that the process is progressing rapidly.
