Chinese nationals running sex racket in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Around 11 Nepali girls, including Jasmine Tamang, were rescued by Nepal Police from a Chinese sex racket center in Thamel last week.

The girls were kept at the Sorhakhutte Women Cell in Kathmandu.

Police sources said that the girls were least worried to be behind bars since they were heard as saying that they would be released soon with the help of their Chinese ‘boyfriends’.

According to sources, some Chinese nationals have been found to be running a sex racket in Kathmandu.

They have been found to be training Nepali girls to become sex workers to entertain Chinese nationals and visitors.

According to sources, they teach Chinese language and culture to Nepali girls. Several of these girls are also sent to China by marrying with Chinese nationals.

It should be noted that the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police in August last week arrested four Chinese nationals from the Tribhuvan International Airport for allegedly running a bride trafficking racket in Nepal.

The Chinese nationals included were Zhang Donghui, Zhen Xianjdong, Qin Liyang and Quan Zhan Peng of China’s Hubei province.

According to the police, they were involved in trafficking Nepali girls to China as brides.

Several Nepali nationals are found to be working for Chinese nationals to lure girls from various parts of the country by alluring them of lucrative jobs in China.

Reports have said that the Chinese ‘grooms’ even agree to pay over NRs one million to Nepali ‘agents’ to arrange a bride. Likewise, they also provide money and gifts to the brides, according to sources.
