NEA Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya highlights achievements in first 100 days



KATHMANDU: Hitendra Dev Shakya, the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has unveiled a summary of key initiatives and accomplishments during his first 100 days in office.

Speaking at a press conference held at NEA on Tuesday, Shakya presented a list of works completed and initiated since his appointment on March 24, as per a decision by the Council of Ministers.

Upon assuming office, Shakya issued a white paper outlining the current state of NEA and its future roadmap, emphasizing goals related to energy security and reliable electricity supply.

He stated that efforts have been initiated to ensure energy security, dependable power supply, financial reform through modern strategies, transparent data systems, and improved human resource management.

Among the major projects, Shakya highlighted the completion of the pre-feasibility study of the 100 MW Kulekhani–Sisneri Pumped Storage Project, for which a license application for feasibility study has been submitted.

Similarly, a pre-feasibility study for the 494 MW Huleungtar–Dumkim Pumped Storage Project has also been completed, and an application for feasibility study is in progress.

He further mentioned that licensing procedures have begun for other significant projects, including the Uttar Ganga Hydropower Project and the Upper Arun Hydropower Project, as part of NEA’s long-term strategic planning.
