Arrest warrant issued against Mahara



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Court on Sunday issued an arrest warrant against outgoing Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

A single bench of Judge Brajesh Pyakural issued the warrant against Mahara, according to Information Officer Gyan Karki.

With the issuance of the warrant, police can arrest the outgoing Speaker anytime over an alleged charge of raping a female employee at Parliament Secretariat. According to the source, Mahara will be arrested likely today.

The victim had lodged a complaint with police against Mahara on Friday.

Mahara has already resigned following the allegation.
