Blacktopping completed ahead of contract deadline

DAMAULI: The blacktopping of the road from the ward office to Thimura Bridge in Devghat Rural Municipality-5 in Tanahu has been completed one month ahead of the contract deadline.

Daksha Engineering Chitwan, the construction company responsible for the project, completed the 130-meter stretch before the agreed completion date.

According to Arjun Ghimire, engineer at the Road Division Office Chitwan, the agreement for the project was signed on Kartik 27, with the original deadline set for Asad 20.

The contract was awarded through the Road Division Office Chitwan. Of the total 730 meters of paved drainage, 400 meters were constructed by the Road Division Office Chitwan and the remaining 330 meters by the Infrastructure Office Pokhara under the Ministry of Urban Development.

Although the estimated cost of the blacktopping project was Rs 15.6 million, the work was carried out at a contracted cost of Rs 17.65 million.

The previously unpaved road, which connects Devghat Rural Municipality-5 with Thimura in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1, had been causing difficulties for locals.

Purna Bahadur Kuwar, Ward Chair of Devghat-5, said the road’s completion has greatly eased local movement.

“The unpaved road created problems with dust and mud. Now, with the road and drains blacktopped, it’s much more convenient for residents,” he said.
