Kami Rita breaks own record, summits Everest for 31st time

KATHMANDU: Renowned climber Kami Rita Sherpa has set a new world record by summiting Mount Everest for the 31st time, breaking his own previous record.

According to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, expedition director at Seven Summit Treks, Kami Rita reached the summit of the world’s highest peak on Tuesday morning.

Last year, the 55-year-old climber made headlines by climbing Everest twice within 10 days, completing his 29th ascent on May 12, 2024 and his 30th on May 21, 2024.

With this latest climb, he extends his record as the individual with the most ascents of Everest.

“Everest Man performs another miracle! Climbs Mount Everest for the 31st time,” wrote Chhang Dawa Sherpa in a congratulatory message on Facebook.

“Congratulations to 55-year-old Kami Rita Sherpa, who holds the record for the most ascents of Mount Everest in history!”

Kami Rita continues to inspire the global mountaineering community with his unmatched endurance and dedication to the Himalayas.
