Sri Lankan arrested with drugs at TIA



KATHMANDU: A Sri Lankan citizen has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport with a substance believed to be marijuana.

Police apprehended 61-year-old Mohammad Salim on Thursday morning after approximately 5.2 kilograms of suspected marijuana was discovered in his luggage during a routine check in the international departure hold baggage screening area.

Salim was preparing to board a Sri Lankan Airlines flight to Colombo when security personnel flagged the illegal substance during inspection. Following the discovery, he was immediately taken into custody.

Authorities have transferred him to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Koteshwor for further investigation and legal proceedings.
