Rain and strong winds disrupt flights

KATHMANDU: Rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning has been affecting various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, since early Saturday morning, causing disruptions in daily life and air travel.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division reported that the unstable weather conditions are currently impacting several provinces — including Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali — with heavy showers, gusty winds, and thunder.

The adverse weather has also hampered both national and international flights. According to Tribhuvan International Airport officials, multiple aircraft have been placed on hold in the air due to poor visibility and strong winds. Airport authorities are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with airlines to ensure passenger safety.

Weather experts have advised the public to take precautions, especially in areas prone to landslides or flooding, as the unstable weather system is expected to continue throughout the day.
