Kathmandu Metropolitan fines RPP Rs 100,000 for littering streets

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) for littering public spaces and causing environmental pollution.

According to a notice issued by the Metropolitan Police, individuals participating in an event organized by the RPP headquarters were responsible for indiscriminate littering and damage to public property in areas such as Airport, Tilganga, and Gaushala. The notice states that garbage was scattered on streets, sidewalks, islands, and railings, affecting plants and causing physical damage to public infrastructure.

The fine was levied under the Solid Waste Management Act, 2011 (2068 BS), the KMC Environmental and Natural Resource Protection Act, 2020 (2077 BS), and the KMC Economic Act, 1994 (2051 BS).

A formal notice has also been sent to the Election Commission and KMC Administration Department, with the letter signed by Municipal Police Inspector Lilraj Gachha Thapamagar.
