Govt to provide land ownership documents to landless soon: Minister Adhikari

KATHMANDU: Minister for Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Balaram Adhikari, has announced that the government is actively working to grant land ownership documents to landless citizens.

Speaking at a meeting with office-bearers of the Land Related Problem Resolution Commission and cooperative campaigners in Sindhulimadhi, Minister Adhikari emphasized the government’s commitment to managing landless Dalits, squatters, and unmanaged settlements.

He urged the commission’s representatives in Sindhuli to expedite the process of distributing land ownership certificates. Additionally, he stated that legal barriers hindering the process would be addressed, noting that an ordinance had been introduced to bridge existing legal gaps.

Addressing concerns about the commission’s role, Minister Adhikari clarified that its purpose is not to promote deforestation or establish new settlements but to facilitate the identification of safe and sustainable living spaces for landless communities.
