PM Oli hails Democracy Day as Nepal’s defining moment



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his best wishes on the occasion of Nepal’s 75th National Democracy Day, calling it the most significant day in the lives of Nepalis.

In a message on social media, Oli described Falgun 7 as a historic moment when Nepalis rose from being commoners to citizens through sacrifice and struggle.

“On this glorious and historic day, I extend my warmest wishes to all democracy-loving Nepalis,” he wrote.

He also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy, including Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha.

“Emotional tribute and respect to the immortal martyrs who fought against autocratic rule,” he ssaid.

Democracy Day marks the end of the Rana regime in 1951 and the beginning of Nepal’s journey toward democracy.
